EURAMET e.V.

The Hellenic Institute of Metrology (EIM) is one of the founding institutes of the EURAMET e.V. (European Association of National Metrology Institutes).

The EURAMET is the Regional Metrology Organization (RMO) of Europe. It coordinates the cooperation of National Metrology Institutes (NMI) of Europe in fields like research in metrology, traceability of measurements to the SI units, international recognition of national measurement standards and of the Calibration and Measurement Capabilities (CMC) of its members. Among these tasks, EURAMET is responsible for the elaboration and execution of a European Metrology Research Program (EMRP).

EURAMET e.V. is a registered association of public utility under German law. Since 1 July 2007 EURAMET e.V. is the successor of EUROMET.

Technical Commitees

Within the framework of EURAMET operate a number of technical committees and subcommittees concerned with technical issues which are important to industry and research in a European level. Staff from the Hellenic Institute of Metrology represent Greece in the technical commitees.

International Laboratory Comparisons

Interlaboratory comparisons under the framework of EURAMET and BIPM are essential for metrology institutes in order to validate their measurements and verify that the national realizations of the units of measurement are the same across Europe and further more across the world.
